Review – Cirque Nord 2016 in AOC Saint Mont

Jancis Robinson review about Cirque Nord 2016, AOC Saint Mont

Lightly reductive nose with some of the tanginess of a Jurançon Sec. Real structure to this. Though very, very different from any other wine I can think of. Citrus-peel flavours and some real grip on the palate (though not astringency). I can see how this is the jewel in the Plaimont crown; I can’t quite see how to convince people to pay the price for something so incomparable. The structure is not unlike that of a white burgundy but the flavours are pure south-west France. Dry and refreshing but with none of the excessive acidity of so many Gascon whites.”
