The “Pacherenc d’Or”, auction, with the election of the best barrel of Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh.
An exceptional auction
Unique know-how
A showcase of the exceptional know-how of the best winegrowers of the appellation, who present the finest sweet wines in South-West France.
Each year in early November, winegrowers, cellar and restaurant owners, and medium and large wholesalers are drawn to Château de Crouseilles for the Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh auction, organised by Plaimont and the “Cave de Crouseilles” wine cellar. Fans of this exceptional wine jostle for a taste of the latest vintage and try to acquire a few batches. Each year clients flock to the Golden Barrels from all over the world to try and outbid each other.
The Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh, a nugget of the Pyrenean foothills
About fifteen barrels are put up for sale, mostly sweet Pacherenc but with a few dry Pacherenc too. Buyers can opt to have the label of their favourite cuvée personalised, and then give bottles to their clients as festive end-of-year gifts.
The project is unique in the context of the great appellations of late harvest wines in that individual winegrowers invest their style, vision and experience in preparing each barrel. In proposing such creations, the winegrowers illustrate the full potential of the Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh appellation; their barrels unarguably represent the greatest sweet wines in South-West France.
