Indigenous grape varieties such as Tannat – the signature note of Madiran and the Saint Mont reds – or Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng for the Saint-Mont whites and Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh, flourish in this very particular climate. However, one treasure tends to hide behind another… we are extremely privileged to have the only parcels of pre-phylloxera vines in France, one of which dates back to the Napoleonic Empire!

Our red grape varieties

A deep purple colour with dark fruit aromas making intense, powerful wines with a very long finish.

Manseng noir

As keen as ever to defend and develop South-West France’s Pyrenean grape varieties, Plaimont’s winegrowers are bringing back to life a forgotten grape variety of the Tannat family, Manseng Noir. The Manseng Noir grape variety has been observed and used to produce wine at micro scale since 2008, in Plaimont’s ampelographic conservatory, and currently swathes more than a dozen hectares around the town of Condom, on the limestone soil of the surrounding villages. This variety bestows notes of very spicy green pepper and black tea on the MOONSENG cuvée in the PGI Côtes de Gascogne.

A rediscovered, extremely old grape variety which gives our wines their typicity. The wines are intensely floral when young but with age the floral fragrances soften.

Cabernet Sauvignon

This grape variety expresses itself through its characteristic wild berry aromas; it contributes to our wine blends by developing a powerful bouquet and adding structure and a lengthy finish.

Our white grape varieties

Pale yellow with hints of green, a fresh, light and lively nose with notes of citrus and passion fruit. The Manseng grape varieties bestow body and liveliness on the mouth.

A pale yellowy-green colour with an explosive nose of pineapple and grapefruit. This grape variety makes lively, refreshing wines displaying notes of tropical fruit.

Petit courbu

This pale-coloured grape variety combines delicate floral aromas with intense ripe fruit for a mouth-feel that is full and persistent.

A very pale yellow colour with light, fresh, floral aromas giving an incomparably elegant and supple mouth-feel.
