Faithful to the Jazz in Marciac music festival these past 40 years, the Plaimont winegrowers share their values of authenticity, friendliness and a passion for the region with the festival participants.
Marciac is the southern geographical gateway to the vineyards of the SAINT MONT AOC. Their the winegrowers will show you the treasures of their terroir, to music.
Jazz and wine
Bonds that go way back…
The Jazz in Marciac adventure was instigated in 1978 by then-schoolteacher Jean-Louis Guilhaumon. Assisted by a handful of volunteers, mostly local winegrowers, he organised a series of concerts spanning a few days. Today, the Festival, partnered by Plaimont for some years, lasts for three weeks, welcomes the biggest artists in jazz and attracts around 200,000 visitors from all over the world.
Winegrowers and jazz
Each year at the festival it is our pleasure to sponsor evenings in the concert marquee. For us, it is a chance to showcase our expertise and introduce visitors to our wines. The cocktail at the interval sets the tempo for our sponsorship. We present a featured cuvée on each occasion. Our winegrowers, too, share a VIP moment with the artists at the end of each concert, presenting the artists with that evening’s showcase wine as a gift. A moment to appreciate and share artistic brilliance: in jazz and the wines of the South-West!
Jazz at the heart of our wine-producing area
As part of each jazz festival since 2012 we have held a free concert in the pastoral setting of Château de Sabazan, at the heart of the Saint Mont appellation. It offers an opportunity to discover the magnificent terroir of this vineyard, taste some of Saint Mont’s fine wines, talk with the winegrowers and enjoy a superb concert. For the first concert, Robert Fonseca raised the roof with his Latino rhythms.
