The Saint Mont wooden label
Le Figaro et Vous - 12 February 2009 « TRADITION. The Le Faîte de Saint Mont vintage, with two versions, white in (2007) and red (2005), produced by Producteurs de Plaimont (Gers) is the only one in France to affirm its identity with a wooden label fastened to the bottom of the neck by a wax stamp. This is, in fact, an old tradition that has been renewed that ensured that wines for laying down were stored in the clayey earth of the store-rooms which ensured a constant temperature and humidity. These precious bottles were intended for the heirs and, at the beginning of the 1980s, some bottles were found that had been lying underground for sixty to eighty years. The wooden labels had perfectly resisted the test of time and the wines, produced with local old varietal grapes, were still in good condition. The same grapes are used to this very day for the Le Faîte vintage. » Tel.: 33 (O)5 62 69 62 87. |
